Download Ledger Live

Get the desktop app for macOS, Windows or Linux, or the mobile app for iOS and Android.

Connect your Ledger device

Unlock it and connect by cable to your computer, or by Bluetooth to your phone if the model supports it.

Set a PIN and write down your recovery phrase

Choose a PIN on the device itself, then write the recovery phrase it shows onto paper. It appears once, on the device screen, and never in the app.

Add your accounts

Install the coin apps you need and your balances, addresses and transaction history appear in Ledger Live straight away.

Your keys never leave the device

The device creates your private keys and signs every transaction itself. Ledger Live builds what you ask for and shows you the result, but it never holds a key and never asks for your recovery phrase.

Short answers to what usually holds people up: what the app costs, where the recovery phrase belongs, and what happens if a device is lost.

Yes. The app is free to download and free to use. The only costs are optional and come from third parties: buying crypto with a card, swapping between assets and staking each show their fee before you confirm.

On paper, offline, somewhere only you can reach it. Not a photo, not a password manager, not a cloud note, and never in a message to anyone. It is the only backup of your keys, and Ledger Live will never ask you for it. Anything that does is a scam.

All of them: Stax, Flex, Nano X, Nano S Plus, Nano S and Nano Gen5. Models with Bluetooth can pair with your phone; the others connect to a computer over USB.

Yes. There are desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. Your device connects by Bluetooth if the model supports it, or by cable to a computer if it does not.

Your crypto lives on the blockchain, not on the device, so nothing is lost while you still have your recovery phrase: you can restore access on a new Ledger with it. Someone who finds the device without your PIN sees nothing.
